Georgia’s two U.S. Senators have unveiled their committee assignments for the 118th Congress, and they have both landed spots on influential committees.
Sen. Jon Ossoff received a spot on the Intelligence Committee, which oversees all U.S. intelligence agencies. As a member of the panel, Sen. Ossoff will be at the forefront of issues pertaining to national defense and law enforcement.
“The safety and security of Georgia families are my highest priorities,” Sen. Ossoff said in a statement. “On the Intelligence Committee, I will continue to focus on strengthening U.S. national security and leading effective bipartisan Congressional oversight.”
Ossoff will continue to serve on the Homeland Security, Rules and Judiciary committees.
Sen. Raphael Warnock’s office said that he will continue to serve on the Agriculture Committee, which provides federal oversight to Georgia’s largest economic industry. The panel also oversees food assistance programs and rural development.
Sen. Warnock says that he will keep Georgia’s farmers in mind as he helps craft the upcoming Farm Bill. “I’m looking forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and the Capitol, to advance bipartisan ideas in the Farm Bill that will benefit Georgia’s farmers and agriculture industries,” he said.
He will also remain on the Commerce, Aging and Banking committees.
